Southeast Wisconsin Chapter Meeting
January 26th, 2010
The best one yet! Attendees learned a lot about collecting from customers and the legal side of liens.
St. Louis Chapter Meeting
January 19th, 2010
We had yet another good St. Louis Meeting. Bill Wahler gave a nice presentation on FlexiForce. Randy and Angela shared insightful information and resources on social media and how it can help your business. Randy shared some helpful sheets and internet links as well.
Here's a link to an article in the Professional Door Dealer online Mag that talks about Facebook:

St. Louis Chapter Meeting
November 17th, 2009
Another great meeting with an enthusiastic crowd in St. Louis! The food and service were excellent and we all learned a lot about 3 different companies and what they had to offer. Ted Billman, representing Billman and Associates presented on the 5 companies/specialty products that he represents. Larry Peterson, with Domino Engineering showed us his products and gave a couple of items away! LeRoy from JanUS brought some samples of their products and gave an interesting power point presentation. There was also a "Hat Swap" where some people left with new hats. Looking forward to the next meeting in January.
Southeast Wisconsin Chapter Meeting
November, 11 2009
This was my (Kim's) first opportunity to attend a SEWI meeting. It was great! We had about 7 dealer companies and 8 industry companies represented. Todd Thomas from IDEA came up after the Chicago meeting and presented for this chapter as well. He made a lot of the same points at each and we all learned a lot about IDEA and what they have to offer. Denco Marketing was the sponsor. They generously gave away 2 cordless drills, a chain break and a cable cutter! (See what you could have had!) Larry Smith from Hobbit volunteered to sponsor the next meeting.

Northern Chapter Meeting
November, 10 2009
We were priviliged to enjoy a great meal at a new location: Weber Grill. Safe-Way door sponsored, and was represented by Kurt Arends and Bryan Horton. A great discussion of how to involve more dealers in the area got the creative juices flowing. There were many great ideas that will hopefully spark more involvement in this chapter. Todd Thomas from IDEA presented on using your company's accreditation and your technicians certifications to sell more doors. A few highlights of his presentation:
-->
Companies are not just earning accreditation, but
should be selling it as well. It is the
only differentiation between a
truly professional dealer and “the rest.”
--> Cost sharing between marketing and training helps alleviate the initial costs.
Southeast Wisconsin Chapter Meeting
September, 2009
Seventeen people enjoyed an entertaining meeting. There were eleven dealers and six manufacturers present. The presentation by Roger Siep was fantastic! There was an excellent raffle for a Linear operator plus accessories kindly donated by John Elmgren with Linear.
We welcomed a soon to be dealer Precision Door represented by Brian Henning.
We are looking forward to the meeting in November where a representative from IDA will be here to discuss the importance of the International Door Education Association.
CSDDA Celebrates Birthday with Golf Outing
Approximately two dozen Central States Door Dealer Association members celebrated the association's eleventh birthday on July 24th in a four-man scramble golf tournament at the Edgewood Golf Club near Springfield, IL.
Winners of the team portion of the tournament was the foursome of Larry Peterson of Domino Engineering, Matt Ronza and Brad Watkins of Lift-Master, and Randy Schmitt of All-Purpose Door Co. with a round of four under. Association treasurer Ted Billman of Billman and Associates came away with two individual prizes for tee shot closest to the pin and longest putt. Winner of the longest drive contest was Bob Jones of IDAssurance. All the winners took home $50.00 cash prizes.
Following the golf tournament, participants enjoyed barbecue chicken, ribs, and all the fixings in the club house dining room. Association President David Ziegenhorn spoke briefly to thank all the participants and recognize hole sponsors Linear Corporation, Clopay Building Products, the International Door Association, Janus International, and Safe-way Doors. Proceeds from the tournament benefited the IDA Scholarship Foundation.
Thanks to great efforts from current CSDDA members, and the folks at Joe Wilde Company, we have officially added a new Chapter of CSDDA! The
Southeastern Wisconsin
Chapter
is headed by President
Gordon Welk
, Vice President
Joe Lindmark and Secretary Lee Alagma.
The organizational meeting was excellent and had a great turn out. Congratulations to the newest members of CSDDA!
EXPO 2009-Nashville
I had been to an IDA Expo a few years ago as an "extra" with my husband, and I thought it was pretty cool (I had no idea about garage doors at the time). This time, however, it took on an entirely different meaning. The first time, I enjoyed the hotel, the entertainment and the parties. This time, I relished getting to meet a lot of the people with whom I communicate over email or on the phone. It was great to meet prospective dealers and industry members. I enjoyed the Affiliate's Luncheon and the key note speaker (wasn't he hillarious and incredibly talented?). I also loved the hotel, the entertainment and the parties again, but I especially cherished my time on the showroom floor with all of you. If you missed the EXPO this year, I recommend that you put next year's event on the calendar now, and make it happen. See you in Vegas, baby!
Below are some pictures from Nashville.

St.Louis-May 2009 Meeting
"Last night's CSDDA meeting in St. Louis was excellent again. About 20 attended.14 dealers, 6 manufacturers.
Program on the history/current market and economy situation was excellent. We have heard and continue to (and experience) hear so much about this situation that having a good speaker help explain again was a benefit all of us enjoyed.
Then Clopay discussed their products.
Had special guests from CHI, Janus, and National Sales "Gate" rep from Liftmaster in attendance.
Randy Schmitt was re-elected Pres and continues to do a fine job. Rich Naes was elected VP, and David Oberhoffer, Sec.
Great door prizes were given away." --Larry Peterson, Domino Engineering
Southeast Wisconsin Chapter Meeting, May 2009
The meeting was excellent again. 10 manufacturers/distributors; 16-17 dealers. The SE Chapter was fortunate to hear such a qualified speaker on the new UL regulations. Dan, a 25 industry veteran, has been on the industy committee helping shape the regulations. The information was first hand and was very informative. The handout was worth the time coming to the meeting.
Next meeting for the SE chapter is tentatively scheduled for September.

Gordon Welk, president of SEWI chapter of CSDDA welcoming 26-27 attendees.

Dan Dombkowski of the Chamberlain Group informing group of new UL 325 revisions for manufactured commercial operators that will take effect August 29, 2010.
